As I am in no way technology savvy (I didn’t get an iPod until this year), I have no idea how to properly format videos so that I can put them into this blog. I suck.

This leaves me with a few options… create a youtube account and just post things there and then link back? Or stop writing entirely and just record videos … this is all too much to worry about right now though because I’ve been trying to figure this out for a good 30-45 minutes, I’m hungry and I’ve spent all day washing clothes and sorting what to take and what to leave here.

Sitting in bed, listening to Dashboard Confessional and here I am realizing that as of next Sunday, I’ll be moved out again. Living on my own for the first time in years.

The first time I heard hands down I thought I was in love and here I am hearing the same song … and I don’t know what I feel right now.

Grown up?

Hardly. I don’t have a grown up career. I’m in college. My socks never match. Sometimes I don’t brush my hair … I’m not tall enough! I can’t be a grown up until I grow at least a few more inches … right?

I showed it to my Dad who stood speechless and then exclaimed, “It looks like a dress”. This is following up the statement that I looked like a pumpkin in the dress I was wearing last night. Honestly though, with my bright green cast and the orange skirt … I can sort of see how he thought this. Bless his Dad soul.

Eleven weeks into having a broken foot. Three more to go and I find out if I need to have pins installed. I really am a freak of nature.

Work at 8:30 a.m. today. Not exactly ecstatic as this is far too early for my tastes – especially on a Saturday. Then again it’s not like I was out partying last night. Dinner at Olive Garden and then seeing a Church Christmas Musical. It’s about as G-rated as life can get.

Moving day is swiftly approaching … I have nothing ready.

In more exciting news I aced my final project for CCJ 340. 97/100. Take that.

The topic of relationships came up tonight with a friend and I’ve been thinking that I try very hard not to jump from one relationship to another. Actually I chastise anyone that does this and so it’s made me want to reflect. How black is the kettle?

In high school I dated tons of boys (definition: holding hands, sitting together at lunch, maybe attending a school dance together, making out with no tongue – gross – seriously, to this day, gross)… Beau, Ryan, Nathan, Jeff, Allen, Nick, Tristan … etc.

I had the tendency to date people whether or not I liked them. The boys I did like usually had no idea that I existed … at least so I thought? Lucas* may be an exception I’ve found out in recent years. That aside though, in high school I dated seriously … two boys.

Five years have passed since then and I don’t know if I’m mentally progressed much to be entirely truthful. The relationships have been generally uncomplicated and simple. Break ups haven’t been atrocious, though obviously they aren’t fun in any sense.

With 2010 drawing to a close I’m wondering how much I’ve really changed this year. My focus has become entirely dedicated to my education which I think it fantastic. Somehow I am managing to still stay heavily involved in community theatre and I have ceased being friends with people that don’t care about me (for the most part).

So I’ve progressed – good job. I’m not a complete failure in all aspects.

The only part of my life that I know could use improvement is the way in which I handle friendships and relationships (or lack there-of). When I sit down to think about it though, like now … at 3 a.m., I am always left wondering – why waste time wondering about things you can’t control and can’t change?

So in effort to save money I have decided the only thing I’ll probably purchase for Mickey Avalon is a $4 white shirt from Forever 21 that I’ll spray paint with his lyrics and then rip and safety pin together – seems very fitting. This inspiration comes from Joan Jett.

I think I’m also going to try making a tooth brush bracelet using the tooth brush the dentist gave me when I went in for my braces consultation when I apologized to them for “having been drinking [the night before] and not having been home yet” – this probably sounded a lot worse then it really was.

Probably going to wear my guitar pick from Peter (this is of no relevance) as an earring, I switch it between an earring and necklace constantly – depending on the occasion.

… all of this I’ll pair with either a short jean skirt (hollister) or jeans (american eagle) and probably my beloved Coach bonney high tops.

I’m really getting into the do it yourself type thing because I feel like it goes well with my slightly hippie style … homemade bracelets and coach? I feel it’s very Coco Chanel inspired. It’s all about pairing expensive and non expensive and creating your own look, or something like that.

As far as make up goes – I have no idea and I’ll probably go with the usual blend of MAC’s expensive pink and crest the wave. Honestly it’s they’re like the only things I know how to wear together … I do have a Malt for my more “business time” look but I think the metallic of the pink will look cute and then lining my lower lid will give it emphasis.

… While I LOVE my huge Sephora kit – I never did it justice. I just don’t understand make up enough for something like that. I’m like a 2-4 color girl… ever.

Tomorrow I need to pick up a new Clinque Redness Solutions Instant Relief Mineral Powder … works miracles. I LOVE this stuff and I can’t believe there was a time when I lived without it.

book suggestions

Finally finished Edith Wharton’s Age of Innocence. It was a perfectly unhappy tale of duty and responsibility winning out over love. I admit though it took far longer then I imagined because the majority of the first book (the story is divided into two books) was dull right up until the last few pages. Then as book two began it returned to the same drudgery as the first. Then again this is all staying very true to the way society is portrayed and gives a sense of truth and irony to the story.

Tomorrow I’ll probably have to go to Barnes and Noble and find some new things to read … I think the only thing I own more of then books are clothes. What a sight my little apartment will be.

I know I should probably start reading Jane Austen but I find her tiring … so I think I’ll stick with Wharton for awhile and pick up, The House of Mirth and Summer.

Sadly I know there is going to come a point where I need to break down and read Rand but I really don’t want too … sheer principle but sadly I have the inkling that I’ll enjoy it.

If only the Marquis was less bogged down with droll and sex … I know – me, the avid reader of anything obscene and scandalous … but even sometimes I want to scream “enough!” when reading him …

Tom, you were robbed. I would have watched Big Chef … especially if you made things like beer waffles and other food that’s hearty and slightly manly. Yes, I’m a girl but I feel like you needed just needed something more? Nevertheless, I think they made the wrong choice. Aarti is probably a nice person but her mamby-pamby self doubt and “I can’t do this” made me want to toss her chutney at her.

What could happen?

I can’t imagine you have time to read all your comments and I know that I am far behind in knowing all about you and your blog and movie… but I would just like to write you a thank you for inspiring me.

My great grandmother, Grace had a cooking show in Portland, OR when my mom was young … so probably around the 1960s (my mom would kill me if she knew I was hinting at her age – Texas women never admit their ages he says) – I admit I don’t know a lot about it, or her for that matter. Nevertheless she composed a great many cook books over her career and fortunately my mom and I are lucky enough to have quite a few of them.

I’m a college student (I started summer break yesterday and already realized how terribly bored I am already and I can’t imagine what I’ll do to fill the time until classes begin again in September.) and I still live at home with my parents but I find that often times due to our similarities my mom and I tend to fight over things of no consequence… thus I think I will take up cooking my great grandmother’s recipes with my mom as a way to get to know not only her better, but perhaps to learn things about my great grandmother as I wasn’t able to meet her.

Like you, and Julia Child herself, I love to eat. I admit though I have the taste buds of an eight year old child and it will take a lot of conviction to taste all of the recipes. Of course I make an exception when it comes to anything involving cheese!

Please do not think I am in any way trying to copy you, I don’t plan to write about it online or make a career from it … I just wanted to thank you for the inspiration you have given me.

… and who knows, perhaps I’ll be able to break the curse of my disastrous cookies. They are the bane of my existence.

District 9 is amazing and I really love the declaration during the special features that it isn’t a political movie. As I am not a huge alien fan I put off watching this movie and generally Alien movies terrify me… almost as much as dinosaurs. What I find interesting about the movie is how human the Aliens were portrayed, I found their eyes almost cat like and very sweet. What I thought was very beneficial to the film was the derogatory use of the word, “prawn” as a way to dehumanize and desensitize people to them. It only serves as a constant reminder of mankind’s battle with racism.

In more entertaining news, the movie’s website is impressively complex… and if there is another film, I’ll probably see it in theaters.

Having already watched The Runaways which was decent and I was even able to get past my general dislike for the haughty little Kristen Stewart. Next is The Burning plain, except after googling it I learned it’s presumptuous… hm. I do love Charlize Theron, but some of her movies are less then … watchable.

Oh yea, it’s summer break. Well now it’s officially day two… I’m already bored.
