lightly, with a feather

I am currently reading Philosophy in the Bedroom, by the Marquis De Sade.
Despite the obvious pornographic images portrayed across the page like a cheap adult movie, I find the political and religious undertones very intriguing.
Until I began reading this, the only way I envisioned a “libertine” was Johnny Depp in that movie with the really unfortunate looking female.
Libertine has come to mean one devoid of any restraints, especially one who ignores or even spurns religious norms, accepted morals, and forms of behaviour sanctioned by the larger society
All in all this inspires me to read, Les Liaisons dangereuses by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos. If the story weren’t the only thing that made me want to read it, the illustrations are done by… Fragonard.
…how i love that man. Fragonard, all right… and the Marquis … just a little.
